Kiss Is A Four-Letter Word excerpts

Okay, this post is kind of a repeat of the last one because I didn’t realize I’d TOTALLY FORGOTTEN to actually put up the excerpts for my next Evernight novel. Sigh. My brain, I don’t know what’s wrong with it. So without further ado, here’s the new and improved excerpt announcement:

Kiss Is A Four-Letter Word will be released May 18 and you’ll be able to buy it from Evernight Publishing, Amazon, ARe, BookStrand. I originally thought it would be released in June, but to my delight, the date was moved up. Would you like to read an excerpt? If so, CLICK HERE.

I promise the excerpt is actually there this time. :-P

Love Storm coming soon!

Coming May 8 from Siren Publishing! You’ll be able to pre-order in about a week. Meanwhile, would you like to read an excerpt? If so, CLICK HERE.

Also coming in May is Kiss Is A Four-Letter Word. It will be released May 18 and you’ll be able to buy it from Evernight Publishing, Amazon, ARe, BookStrand. I originally thought it would be released in June, but to my delight, the date was moved up. Would you like to read an excerpt? If so, CLICK HERE.

I’m also trying to figure out what to write next. I have tons of ideas, but which one to choose? If you’d like to help me out, I’ve put up a poll. To vote on what novel I write next, CLICK HERE.

1. Do you use a pen name? If so, why?

I use the name Camile Carson for romance novels. I also write children’s books, thrillers and historical fiction. Can you imagine going to one website and seeing “Teaching Your Dinosaur to Count” beside my hot steamy stuff?

2. What is your favorite novel that you’ve written? Read?

I love the new novel “Lovers and Saints” scheduled for release in April. My favorite author is Stephen King for his incredible character development. 11/22/63 was awesome.

3. Does the environment affect your writing (where you live, the seasons, the weather, etc.)?

I tend to get more time to write in the summer. I ship my husband and the kids to the pool.

4. Where is your favorite/most bizarre place to have your characters boink?

I actually think I have boinked in more interesting places than my characters. I must rethink passages in my new book.

5. Do you base your heroines/heroes on photos of celebrities? If so, who?

My characters seem to have a mind of their own and create themselves.

6. Bonus question! What’s the last thing you ate today?

I am eating dry whole wheat toast as I write. I’m on yet another diet.

7. Bonus question! Anything you’d like to say.
I never thought romance writing could be such fun. The best part is the community. I’m amazed at the talent pool and support.

Release day for Risk Is A Four-Letter Word!

As you can see from the GIANT cover photo, I’m a little excited. Who wouldn’t be? You can buy the book at Evernight Publishing at a discount, or get it from Amazon. It’s also available at BookStrand and All Romance eBooks!

Description:

Risk Is A Four-Letter Word (contemporary, menage, erotic romance, mmf)

What if you met your soul-mates on the beach and didn’t realize it? How many chance encounters would it take before you risked everything and let yourself fall in love with not one, but two men?

For Carrie, losing her bikini top in the ocean leads to an erotic encounter with two gorgeous guys. For Eric and Zeke, the steamy kiss they share with her is an amusing interlude on a sunny, summer day, but when the three of them meet again at the art museum, attraction turns into passion. Zeke and Eric realize their feelings for each other are just as potent as their desire for Carrie.

Will they risk everything and choose love? Will Carrie be willing to take that leap with them when loving two men means goodbye to her safe, conventional existence?

Kisses and risk and random meetings . . . oh my!

Right before I fell asleep last night I thought: oh, hey, I should write a new blog post tomorrow. Hmmm. What to say? I know! I’ll post about getting Kiss Is A Four-Letter Word accepted for publication. I went to sleep, happy and content. Sort of. I generally like to post graphics with each blog posts and I didn’t have one. It’s so much more fun when you’ve got eye candy to go along with the text, don’t you think? So I made one:

That’s the beginning of the novel, pre-edit stage. So yeah, I was happy I figured out my pic dilemma, and I was ready to sprinkle some details about the book into the post when HOLY COW, Evernight emails the COVER! Um, wut? I thought. Talk about fast! Isn’t it yummy?

And then I thought, but wait, Risk Is A Four-Letter Word is coming out tomorrow! I should post about that, too. So here, have another piece of eye candy:

Thanks for the handsome dudes, but what’s with the “random meetings” part of this blog post? you ask. Simple. The Four-Letter Word series is based on chance meetings. Random encounters. If you met your soul mate once, twice, three times in a row, how would you know that this person is the one for you? The easy answer is: you don’t. You take a chance on love. You risk everything. Sometimes you test the waters out a bit.

Kisses are a great way to do that.

Tantalizing Tuesday with Francene Carroll

1. Do you use a pen name? If so, why?

I use a pen name because I really like the idea of having another identity. When I go into my romance writing state of mind I become Francene, and it’s a bit of an escape. I think it helps me to relax and be creative.

2. What is your favorite novel that you’ve written? Read?

My favorite novel I’ve written is my new release Pleasure Island. It’s set on a reality tv show and both characters are very stubborn and flawed in different ways. They are complete opposites and really spark off each other. I had so much fun with them and when I finished writing the book it was hard to let them go.

3. Does the environment affect your writing (where you live, the seasons, the weather, etc.)?

Yes! I’m very affected by my environment and I find it hard to write somewhere that is messy or unpleasant. I recently moved into an old house which is in need of renovations and this has posed a bit of a problem with inspiration.

4. Where is your favorite/most bizarre place to have your characters boink?

I write mainstream romance so my characters don’t get too hot and heavy in unusual places, but I do look forward to reading other authors’ answers to this question.

5. Do you base your heroines/heroes on photos of celebrities? If so, who?

Totally! When I was writing Pleasure Island I based the character of Jack, who is an alcoholic and bad boy, on Charlie Sheen. The character of Allie has red hair and is a bit quirky, so I based her on the actress Judy Greer. I even make up Powerpoint presentations with images of the characters and settings to help me when I get writer’s block.

In my first book Shadows of Yesterday the character of Daniel Eastman was based on the delicious Aaron Eckhart – in my opinion one of the hottest men in Hollywood today.

6. Bonus question! What’s the last thing you ate today?

Gluten-free museli with rice milk.

What does a solar eclipse and 16 screws have in common?

Head on over to Alexandra O’Hurley’s blog and find out! I’m guest blogging a fun interview at her place today:

Want to know what crazy thing I did when I was a kid? (Um, sorry Mom! It was just the one time and I got so filthy I never did it again! Also, it was Missy’s fault.)

Want to know why I hate pigeons?

What kid’s movie song can’t I get out of my head?

1. Do you use a pen name? If so, why?

I do, only cause my real name sucks. I’m not ashamed of what I write, only of my name.

2. What is your favorite novel that you’ve written? Read?

I read a lot. A lot. So any book that brings out the emotion in me is my fave at that moment. My favorite book that I’ve written varies, mostly it’s the book I’m writing at the time. Right now, it’s Love the Sinner, my upcoming MM with Ellora’s Cave.

3. Does the environment affect your writing (where you live, the seasons, the weather, etc.)?

Not at all. I’m a homebody. I’m always inside so that doesn’t factor in.

4. Where is your favorite/most bizarre place to have your characters boink?

Surprisingly, my characters have kept the boinking to beds, desks, table tops, and against walls for the time being. Oh, in my Para/shifter novella, Till Abandon, my h/h did it in the woods, on the ground. Not that bizarre. Right? Man, I need to up my game on this.

5. Do you base your heroines/heroes on photos of celebrities? If so, who?

Not really. I write the entire story just from my own vision, but when the story is over I look for a celebrity who most resembles the character image I already have in place.

6. Bonus question! What’s the last thing you ate today?

Coffee.

7. Bonus question! Anything you’d like to say.

Thank you for having me :D

I’ve got a hole in my . . . shower

Last year I punched a hole through my shower wall. It was an accident, I SWEAR. I’d been scrubbing the tile, cursing under my breath, and wishing I could afford a cleaning person to do this sucky job for me, when all of a sudden—WHAM. Fist through tile. Oooops.

My incredibly handy husband cut out a piece of plexiglass and we glued/caulked it over the hole. It’s still there. I can see into the wall when I’m washing my hair. It’s a very dark and scary place. I’m sure there are GIANT RODENTS or SNAKES or ZOMBIES hiding in there, waiting to take a chomp out of my ass.

What is a romance writer doing living with a hole in the shower? She should be rolling in cash! She should be eating yogurt with a gold spoon and sipping three-hundred dollar champagne on a whim!

Yeah, no. NOT.

Most of the money I make is used to plug up the holes various emergencies make in our lives. What do you mean the chimney cracked? Um, I wasn’t planning on ripping out that wall, but I suppose we have to if there are MOLD VAMPIRES back there, and so on. Last year I managed to pay for two new floors, sheetrock, paint, and a t-shirt (the cement leaf picture above is what I found after ripping up carpet in my living room). This year so far I’ve managed to pay for my son’s championship tournament trip (he builds robots). I also hope to buy another t-shirt.

I can’t do any of that when people download pirated copies of my books on the interwebz. So, you know, DON’T DO THAT. Let me repeat myself in case I wasn’t loud enough: DON’T ILLEGALLY DOWNLOAD BOOKS FROM THE WEB.

My novels are not that expensive, so it’s not setting you back very much when you buy one (unlike boring law textbooks which cost a fortune). And when you buy a legal copy, you’re not committing a crime for which you can be FINED (it’s not a silly little fifty-buck fine either, it’s $250,000).

In the next few days I’ll have to spend a fair amount of time sending DMCA takedown notices. This is a pain in the ARSE. I HATE doing it, but I’ve come to view it as one of those necessary evils. Everyone has a crappy thing that they hate about their job. I hate searching up pirate sites and seeing how many copies of my books have been downloaded. It’s a lot. Like, a MEGA HUGE STINKING PILE OF ALOT.

And Alots have a tendency to eat people when they steal things. Also, I need to repair my shower. If you buy one of my novels, you’re contributing to the Clean-Writer fund. How cool is that?
