Story Excerpt:

When the door shut behind her, Jeremiel turned on Haniel. “Are you crazy?” He grabbed the quilt and dragged it off his friend. Haniel stared at him, hair mussed. Dick hard and poking through his boxers.

Jeremiel looked away, his face heating.

“Sorry,” Haniel said, his voice low. “I, um, wasn’t thinking.”

Jeremiel took a deep breath. “Maybe we should talk about this.”

Haniel laughed shortly. “About what? The fact that ever since we touched Charmeine I’ve been wanting to touch you, too? That I want her more than I’ve ever wanted a female?”

Jeremiel went hot, then cold, then hot all over. “Jesus, Haniel.” He was not going to turn around and look at him while they had this discussion.

“Yeah, exactly.” The bed rustled.

Next thing he knew, Haniel was sitting next to him. Leaning into him.

“I could feel you, you know,” he said quietly. “It’s okay.”

Jeremiel’s heart gave a sick thump. “Why didn’t you roll over?”

“I liked it.” Haniel shrugged. “I don’t care if that makes me gay, or whatever.”

Jeremiel swallowed. “I like Charmeine.”

“So do I,” Haniel replied immediately.

“What are we supposed to do with that?” Jeremiel asked, clenching his fists. His morning erection was finally gone, thank God for small favors.

“I say we stay here for a little while. Rest up.” He took a deep breath. “See what happens.”

“See what happens,” Jeremiel echoed, confused as fuck. He laughed quietly. “We’re really messed up.”

Haniel bumped their shoulders together. “Yeah, well. So what if we are?”

Jeremiel didn’t respond. What could he say? It wasn’t like he was going anywhere. After they’d fought the demon at Castle Archangel, no one could separate them. Haniel had given up everything for him. Jeremiel would never be able to repay that. And really, who would care that he wanted to kiss his best friend right now? He glanced over. Haniel fidgeted, eyes dark. Not thinking, Jeremiel reached up and touched his mouth. Haniel’s lips were really soft.

“Fuck,” Haniel breathed, eyes fluttering shut.

Jeremiel leaned in. When Haniel’s mouth touched his, he shuddered. “What are we doing?” he asked, lips touching.

“Shut up.” Haniel slid his fingers into Jeremiel’s hair and deepened the kiss.

Jeremiel’s brain went offline. He gripped Haniel’s arms, cock going hard and aching all over again. He kissed his friend until he didn’t know where he was anymore. Haniel held him steady, kissing him back with such intensity that he felt their connection down to his toes.

“If Charmeine were here, we would kiss her like this,” Haniel whispered, startling Jeremiel into immobility. He bit at Jeremiel’s lower lip. “And this.” He licked inside.

“Oh my God.” Jeremiel couldn’t breathe. Couldn’t think. The idea of sharing her was more than he could take.

“She’d probably be shocked, but also intrigued,” Haniel continued, kissing down Jeremiel’s jaw. “She wants us both. Did you see her looking at us? She’s down there in her little kitchen, thinking about us right now. Wondering if we’re touching each other.”

“What are you saying?” Jeremiel asked breathlessly.

“Can’t you feel it?” Haniel asked.

Jeremiel couldn’t feel anything except the pounding of his heart. “I feel you,” he murmured.

“She’s our mate, Jeremiel.”

Jeremiel went still, lips against Haniel’s cheek. “Impossible. She’s human.”

Haniel pulled him closer. “I wish it were impossible. Why is her name Charmeine? That’s an angelic name.”

“She’s human.” Jeremiel slid his hand down Haniel’s arm, gripping hard, as if he were about to slide off a cliff and only his friend could save him.

“I’m not so sure about that.” Haniel kissed him again and Jeremiel couldn’t stop him. Didn’t want to.

“Angels don’t mate with humans. They don’t mate with two people, either. They pair up,” Jeremiel said against Haniel’s mouth. He trembled. What was happening to them? His skin was on fire. “Trios are a myth.”

“Anything’s possible. Look at me. I’m mostly broken, but I’m still here,” Haniel said, pulling away again.

“Stop that.” Jeremiel grabbed his hands, then slid an arm around his neck. “You’re not broken. You’ve never been broken. Even if you never fly again, you’re still you.” From the look on Haniel’s face, his friend didn’t believe a word he said. Fuck this. Jeremiel turned, climbing on top of him and pushing him down onto the bed. He shoved his cock into the hollow between Haniel’s hip and abdomen. God, so fucking good. “Shut up.”

Haniel closed his eyes and bucked up, his own hard-on bumping against Jeremiel’s. “This part of me isn’t broken, just everything else.”

Jeremiel bit his neck. “I said, shut up.”

Haniel panted, hips moving urgently. “You have no idea what you’re doing.”

Story Excerpt:

Nathaniel sensed this wasn’t going to be a quick conversation. He walked closer. When Zeke didn’t object, he sat down on the bed and leaned back. It was cooler here, further from the fire, but Zeke gave off enough heat for the two of them. Nathaniel fought to keep his eyes where they belonged and away from Zeke’s impressive musculature. No need to spook the heterosexual angel, he told himself. “You had a dream?” he asked, prompting Zeke.

The angel rubbed his face. “Yeah, but I can’t remember it. I just remember the feeling I had when I woke up.”

Nathaniel frowned, an inkling of what was going on floating through his mind. Except, that’s impossible, he thought, afraid to hope. He spoke anyway. “You felt like something was wrong. Out of place. Unnatural.” He licked his lips, suddenly nervous. “Didn’t you?”

Zeke stared at him. “Yes.”

Nathaniel stared back, unwilling to back down.

Finally, Zeke continued. “I came to get you. The feeling went away when I stood in front of your door.”

“That doesn’t make any sense.” Nathaniel didn’t want to mention the way he’d felt when he woke up. He wasn’t sure he believed in coincidences, but it sure as hell was a better explanation than anything else. He certainly didn’t believe in miracles.

Zeke stood up and began to pace. “You think I don’t know that?” he asked angrily. “I’ve spent the last ten years of my life traveling the world, learning. Trying to forget that I lost my family.” He stopped and glared at Nathaniel. “I’m not prone to daydreaming, not anymore. I take things at face value.” He ran a hand over his face. “This, this feeling,” He spat the word out. “It makes no sense.”

Nathaniel stood up. He didn’t know what to say, but he didn’t like the way Zeke was standing, as if he was going to punch something. “It’s gone now,” he offered. “The feeling is gone, right?”

“Sure, it’s gone. But tell me, why do I feel the almost unbearable urge to do this, instead?” Zeke asked, his voice thick with some emotion Nathaniel couldn’t interpret. And then he took two quick steps to the bed, cupped Nathaniel’s face, and kissed him.

Nathaniel froze, stunned. His only coherent thought was, His lips are so soft.

****

Zeke kissed Nathaniel, shocked at what he was doing. Shocked that Nathaniel didn’t rear back and hit him in the face. He thought it would be strange, kissing another man, but instead it felt familiar. Like he’d been missing something all his life until this moment. Nathaniel tasted warm and surprised, so Zeke opened his mouth and let himself sink in, the way his instincts wanted him to. Nathaniel didn’t kiss him back, but he didn’t protest either. Zeke kissed him deeply, then gently moved away, trembling. God, what have I done?

“Whoa,” Nathaniel said, voice shaky. He put a hand up to his mouth. His lips were red and wet.

Zeke stared, heart hammering in his chest. Whoa, indeed. “I’m sorry,” he rasped, voice harsh. He couldn’t look away. Nathaniel was so damn beautiful, especially in the firelight.

Nathaniel laughed. Laughed.

Zeke swallowed, feeling lightheaded.

“Um, I’m not exactly upset here, in case you didn’t notice,” Nathaniel said.

Zeke didn’t know where to put his hands. He tried to take a shaky step back, but his body wouldn’t cooperate. Nathaniel reached out, grabbing his arms and pulling him in roughly. Zeke gasped as the smaller man’s hard-on pressed into his thigh. Jesus. “What’s happening to us?” he asked. “I’ve never felt like this about another man before.”

Nathaniel shook his head. “I don’t know.” He leaned in and rested his forehead on Zeke’s shoulder. “And I really wish I did. You’re hot, and I like you a lot, but I make it a habit to leave straight guys alone.”

“I don’t feel straight right now. I feel all twisted up.” Zeke put a tentative hand on Nathaniel’s neck. Something prickled under his fingers, like static. He looked down just in time to see marks sliding under Nathaniel’s lovely caramel skin, like ink that couldn’t decide where to settle. He pushed him away, breathing hard, but didn’t lift his hand. The marks moved like magic beneath his touch.

Nathaniel’s fingers tightened on his biceps and he swayed. “God, what’s happening?” He sounded drunk.

Suddenly, Zeke knew. “Jesus,” he said, stunned. “We’re bonding.” This was even more shocking than finding himself attracted to a member of the same sex.

Nathaniel shook his head. “No, no, that’s impossible. I’m only half-angel. I can’t fly. I can’t do anything. My genetics are too mixed up.”

Zeke stared at Nathaniel’s shoulder. The ink was darkening to a slate-grey as it came to the surface of his skin. The lines moved like a blooming flower, full of potential and beauty.

“Nathaniel, look,” he managed to say, sliding his hand down the smaller angel’s arms and lifting them.

Nathaniel had his eyes closed. “I feel really fucking weird,” he said.

“Open your eyes,” Zeke told him. He was hard and flushed and so fucking aroused he could barely think, but he knew one thing. Nathaniel had to open his eyes to understand what was going on. The marks moved under his hands like electric wire, zapping him with energy before settling into the familiar angelic pattern. Nathaniel swayed as if he’d been drinking and Zeke tightened his hold. “Open your eyes, Nathaniel.” He shook him a little.

Nathaniel’s eyes snapped open. When his eyes fell onto their clasped arms, he went perfectly, utterly still.

________________

Story Excerpt:

“Ariel,” he replied, lips at her cheek. She went perfectly still. His heart gave a hard thump, and then he said the words he’d fought not to even think these past several weeks. “I choose you. I choose you as my mate, my equal in power, sorceress to my sorcerer. I choose you until eternity scatters our energy to the winds and we are reborn once again, our power to serve our People, as God wills.” His hands tightened around her, trembling. He wasn’t sure where he found the words to claim her as his mate, but they felt right. Ariel was his destiny. He prayed she would return his words to him, soul to soul.

She took a deep breath, and slid her hands up to frame his face. This high up there was no breeze, but her wingtips fluttered with the power that held them alive and warm in such thin skies. Tiny puffs of warmth misted around their faces as they hovered above the planet, almost at the edge of space. Her eyes were wide and shocked, but then she seemed to see something in his face and her expression relaxed. “Suriel, I choose you in return. I choose you as my mate, my equal in power, sorcerer to my sorceress. I choose you until our energy fades back into the winds and our souls are reborn once again, our power ebbing and flowing, always in service to our People, as God wills.” The moment she stopped speaking, power slammed into them, tossing them across the curve of the Earth.

Ariel cried out, but Suriel caught her again, wrapping his arms around her as they plummeted down, wings tight against their bodies. The power had them in its grip and it wasn’t letting go. He tucked her face into his neck and began to pray. He didn’t understand what was happening, but if he had to die, he at least wanted to go down protecting the woman he loved. Her heart beat against his, skin to skin, and he felt her terror as they fell from crystal cold into winter chill. Just as they were about to hit the snowy ground, the power pushed through them again and their wings unfolded in unison. Air caught them and they swooped up into the skies together.

Ariel lifted her face as Suriel took control of their flight, angling into the cold breeze that flew just below the ridge line. Her long hair streamed out behind her, sifting through the feathers at her shoulders.

“My God,” she breathed, still trembling.

He swallowed, agreeing wholeheartedly with her. “Yes.”

“We’re alive.”

He nodded, letting her slip out from his grasp until only their fingers touched. The power calmed down, settling into his bones. When he looked at her wings, the silver tips glowed, bright with energy. “You are truly a sorceress now,” he told her.

She glanced at him and angled their flight back to the castle, gripping his hand firmly. “I can feel the energy in my body. It’s like a wild wind, untamed and almost brutal, and I’m holding the leash.” She frowned. “No, I am the leash and the power, simultaneously.”

He smiled. “You’ve managed to describe the indescribable.” His power felt different. Not weaker, but more controlled. He sucked in a hard breath, trying to wrap his mind around what had happened. He’d spent so much of his life trying to control this energy; he couldn’t truly accept its sudden docility. No, it’s not docile, he thought, letting Ariel lead him home. It’s still ferocious, but it’s also more a part of me than it ever was. It’s who I am, not what I can do.

She snorted. “Is this what it felt like for you, all these years?”

The smile dropped from his face. Above them, the bright moon hid behind a few dark clouds. The castle loomed large and solid, just ahead. He didn’t answer until their feet touched the windowsill. “No. The power wasn’t truly mine until you touched my soul, Ariel. Without you, the power controlled me. Now that you are mine, we are the power and the will together.” He cupped her cheeks, tilting her face up. Her nose was pink from the cold, but she didn’t look one whit less stunning. “The power is who we are, now.”

She blinked up at him, soft and beautiful and then her smile bloomed over her face, light and happy. In the next moment, the moon slid back out from behind the dark cloud and Suriel touched his lips to hers for the first time as the light sparkled down over them like glitter.

****

His lips felt like velvet. He kissed her and Ariel had to hold on with all her strength as the energy they shared danced between them. His body was warm and solid against hers. She opened to him, helpless and wanting. He deepened the kiss, sliding his tongue into her mouth. She gasped. He pushed closer, his cock shoving against her hip. He kissed her until she ran out of air and had to tear herself away, panting.

“God, Ariel. I need you,” he said, voice low and hot.

She trembled and stepped back, floating down into the library. One look across the room confirmed it was still empty. Another look and a tendril of power locked the door. She spread her arms wide as her wings slid back into her body, leaving her in jeans and a halter. “Come and get me,” she said, smiling through her arousal. Her skin pricked with energy and she felt more alive, more in control of herself than she ever had before.

He growled, stepping into the room. He closed the window, but didn’t pull the drapes shut. Moonlight vied with the firelight across the hardwood floor. Ariel moved back until her toes touched the fluffy rug in front of the hearth. Every breath she took felt weighted with heat. Suriel stared at her, muscled chest flexing as he shifted back to human. His legacy marks glowed blue and silver along his arms as he popped the button on his pants. She licked her lips as she stared at his erection. He was so much bigger than her, but his power and hers was the same. It made her want him so badly her fingers shook as she tugged at her halter.

Suriel stepped forward, hands going to the knot around her neck. “Let me,” he breathed, kissing along her jaw as he undid the tie. He held it in place until he slipped the lower knot around her back free, too, then drew the silk away, baring her to his gaze for the first time.

She sucked in a gasp as his hands circled her ribs, then cupped her breasts, thumbs flicking expertly over her nipples. She gripped his forearms, pressing his marks into his bones. “God, Suriel.”

“Not God,” he murmured, lowering his mouth to her. “Just an angel.”
