When Sparrow Martin dreams about President Morgan Wilde, she thinks she’s going crazy. Ordinary people like her don’t bond with the President, right? But when she dreams about a second man along with Morgan, she knows she needs to find her bond-mates or risk losing her mind.

Morgan knows he’s bonding, but he has no idea what to do about it. One of the people he’s dreaming about is a man whose face he can’t even see. As President, his responsibility is to his country, not his own desires. Of course, when Sparrow shows up during a White House tour, he discovers dreams can’t be denied.

Justin Boyd is working on a secret project and he doesn’t have time to figure out what’s wrong with him. He’s been sleeping badly for months, but he doesn’t have any of the signs of bonding: no wrist tattoos, no headaches. So why do two people haunt his dreams, night after night?

What are people saying about Marked Mates?

Manic Readers

Rating: 4 stars!

Marked Mates by Erin M. Leaf is fourth in the Dream Marked series. This series is best read in chronological order. This story was well developed and written. Ms. Leaf gave us characters that felt believable. While the relationship between Morgan, Sparrow and Justin developed quickly, it fit within the nature of a bonding. The chemistry was a part of the story and not just a reason for sex even though the sexual component was hot. I enjoyed seeing the characters learn to live with the additional skills that came with bonding. While Morgan had more information prior to bonding, he was compassionate and understanding while his bond mates came to terms with the changes caused not only by the bonding but by his job. I loved that Ms. Leaf gave us three distinct individuals. They were strong on their own and together became something much more. This was a wonderful addition to this series. It flowed well from what happen prior. I look forward to reading more from this author.

1. If your characters could pick a food to play with in the bedroom, what would they use?

My Victorian characters Nicolas, Ellie, and Luca in Loving Leonardo spent some time in Paris. I could see them having a rich dish of chocolate ganache sent up with strawberries and champagne. It would all start innocently of course – between sips of champagne, strawberries would be dipped in chocolate. Chocolate being what it is, it would have to be licked off fingers. I can certainly see them running with that. 🙂

2. How old were you the first time you read a romance novel? Erotica?

I was 12 when I read Jane Eyre and I fell in love with the mysterious Mr. Rochester. I was 26 when I read my first Kathleen Woodiwiss and that hooked me to romance. Believe it or not, my first erotic story was my own Hermes Online!

3. What is your favorite romance genre to read? Why? (Paranormal, sci-fi, contemporary, MM, menage, etc.)

I adore historicals. I spent a good many years of my life in historical clothing as a Living History presenter. I’ve only ever read two sci-fi’s in my life and one was absolutely horrible and completely threw me off the sub-genre. You have to suspend the reader’s disbelief for this type of book. The other belongs to fellow author Michele Hart and I found it a fabulously believable tale.

4. What’s hotter for the hero: long-hair, short, or bald? Why?

I grew up in a Chicago neighborhood filled with black-haired olive-skinned men of Mediterranean descent and like a duckling, I imprinted on that standard of beauty. My husband had long hair when we met – beautiful, silky-soft, chestnut-colored hair. Oddly enough, every single hero in my books has one or the other short or long. You got me thinking about bald now. I loved Star Trek’s Jean Luc Picard too. lol

5. When is your favorite time of day to write? Where is your favorite place to write? (Morning, evening, bed, playground, etc.)

At 10 AM I kick butt. I work off my laptop at the kitchen table close to the coffee pot and accompanied by my cockatiels and dogs.

6. Bonus question! Do your characters use birth control (i.e. condoms) and if so, how do you make the mechanics of it sexy?

It’s funny how times have changed. In my life I must have read hundreds of romance novels and never, not once in all those years, did I see a condom anywhere. Directed by my publisher’s editor I had to address this in Hermes Online (and in the end I managed to skirt the issue anyway), but Dreamscape and Loving Leonardo deals with sex in Victorian times. They had condoms back then but the need just didn’t arise when I wrote their love scenes. I see the point to safe sex because we live in a germy world, but do our fantasies need condoms? Do people really read our books and go stupid because they read literary characters not using protection? I don’t think so. Every way I can think of to write it in sexy comes out lame. Rolling down a condom just isn’t sexy to me as a reader. I personally think it detracts from the scene.

7. Tell us about your latest release or what you’re working on now.

I just published Loving Leonardo, my first bisexual Polyamorous ménage set in 1897. My hero Nicolas Halstead is an art historian working for the famed Ashmolean museum and leads a somewhat normal life as of a man of means. He takes pains to hide his homosexuality from the world. One day Ellie comes to call and confronts him with it. To his incredulous disbelief she proposes marriage. It turns out she wants him to help her rescue a previously unknown work of Leonardo da Vinci – a book of love poems and erotic sketches from Leonardo to his gay lover Salai. How can Nicolas refuse? They race to Venice where the book is held by a man who has plans to destroy it for the vulgar thing he sees it as. Along the way they meet Luca and the three fall in love. While they come to redefine themselves, a man with a dark obsession comes into their lives. The story continues in the second book. I love these three so they may come back and have adventures in other novels.

Book 1 of The Witchy Wolf and the Wendigo has just been released, a paranormal story inspired by a serious local urban legend. It’s steeped in Native American lore. I just finished the blurb. 🙂 Find it on Amazon.

Book 1 – Ashkewheteasu

What does an immortal Native American shaman do when the grave he’s sworn to watch over for all eternity disappears under urban development?

His purpose of guarding his wife’s burial mound gone, Ashkewheteasu seeks to end his immortal existence. In his despair, he assumes the form of a wolf and steps in front of a moving car and into the life of Dr. Olivia “Livie” Rosalini. The veterinarian saves the animal’s life, and in the process saves the man within. Unbeknownst to Livie, the dog she’s taken into her home and grows to love is a magical being seeking to win her heart as a man. While Ash is learning a new world filled with new love, friendship, and happiness, an old menace makes plans to steal it all away; just as he had 3000 years before.

Author details:

I’ve been happily married to my soul mate for the past 35 years and together raised our two children on one of the prettiest places on earth in America’s upper Midwest. We share our lives with five feathered and furred loved ones, and a loving and supportive extended family as well – family we were born into, and family built with dear friends. I’ve been writing for at least twenty years but kept it all to myself after several unsuccessful attempts to send manuscripts to New York knocked the wind from my sails. In the summer of 2010 all roads converged and before I knew it I became a published author. My goal is to learn all I can about this business through five romance novels, then take that knowledge and apply it to the series I’ve been working on for the past six years. Three romance novels are in print now and two to go! After that – love stories of a different sort.

Wicked Wednesday with J. Annas Walker

Walker-lostalchemist   Walker-scionsfreedom

1. If your characters could pick a food to play with in the bedroom, what would they use?

Cassy and David would go with chocolate syrup. As vampires, they could add a little blood and it wouldn’t show. Claire and Alistair would want whipped cream.

2. What is your favorite romance genre to read? Why? (Paranormal, sci-fi, contemporary, MM, menage, etc.)

Paranormal gives me a great chance to live through characters that have no possiblility of existing. It really does present a total fantasy. It does away with the limitations of the mudane world.

3. What’s hotter for the hero: long-hair, short, or bald? Why?

Short hair. I’m just not into hairy men. I find it easier to write hotter scenes, if I find the guy’s attractive to me.

4. When is your favorite time of day to write? Where is your favorite place to write? (Morning, evening, bed, playground, etc.)

I like to write really early in the morning, ie 4-6am. I don’t really have a choice as to where, as my computer is on a PC. I would love to have a laptop and write in bed.

5. Bonus question! Do your characters use birth control (i.e. condoms) and if so, how do you make the mechanics of it sexy?

None of my characters so far have used birth control. I can’t seem to make that part sexy. Also, for the most part, one or both of my characters are supernatural. That usually eliminates the need.

6. Tell us about your latest release or what you’re working on now.

Right now I have a new project that blends several old mythology characters into a single story. They get to be themselves. The difference is the heroine. She is a new creature, the blending of a demi-goddess and a vampire, and is where the older characters’ paths cross. She starts off a sheltered misfit, but ends up being the key to the universe.

1. If your characters could pick a food to play with in the bedroom, what would they use?

Do ice cubes count? LOL That seems to be my character’s choice of food related items. Reese found a creative way to use an ice cube on Melody in Sports Beats [Rock Hard Seduction 3], Justin and Ben attempted to cool down Marissa’s heat in Marissa’s Rights [The Service Club 2], and, most recently, Jackson used an ice cube to drive Mallory wild in Sexual Games [The Heroes of Silver Springs 8].

2. How old were you the first time you read a romance novel? Erotica?

I was in my early twenties when I read my first romance novel. As a matter of fact, I remember the exact book, Having His Baby by Karen Young. I don’t remember the first erotica book I read, but I know it was about a year after I ventured into romance before I got hooked on erotica.

3. What is your favorite romance genre to read? Why? (Paranormal, sci-fi, contemporary, MM, menage, etc.)

Truthfully, I love them all! I do tend to lean more toward contemporary or romantic suspense and if there’s MM or menage thrown in, even better.

4. What’s hotter for the hero: long-hair, short, or bald? Why?

My heroes tend to have shorter or buzz gut hair. Since I write so many books with heroes in public service professions, the length of their hair tends to be regulation. Personally, I think men with shorter hair are sexier anyway. Of course, there are a select few out there who really make bald look wickedly hot.

5. When is your favorite time of day to write? Where is your favorite place to write? (Morning, evening, bed, playground, etc.)

I’m a morning person. If I sleep past 8 o’clock, I had a really late night. 🙂 In a house with 4 teenagers and a boyfriend, I find it easiest to write usually between the hours of 9 am and 3 pm, sometimes later if mommy life doesn’t take over.

My favorite place to write is my back deck. I love being outside where I’m not surrounded by the distractions of the domestic chores I haven’t yet done. It’s peaceful and I find it thought provoking. Of course, winter time makes it difficult. The cold either sends me inside or I learn to type while shivering my tail off. LOL

6. Bonus question! Do your characters use birth control (i.e. condoms) and if so, how do you make the mechanics of it sexy?

Hmm, honest answer? My characters forget to use birth control. Eek! That sounds awful, but I tend to get so caught up in the scene that I don’t think about putting on that condom until the scene is over. Lucky for me, and my characters, they’re all STD free and live happily ever after together so, if they make a baby, it’s okay.

7. Tell us about your latest release or what you’re working on now.
My latest release is Sexual Games, book 8 of The Heroes of Silver Springs series. This book is FBI agents Jackson Graham’s and Mallory Stone’s story with a M/M subplot of a budding relationship between Mallory’s brother, FBI agent Cameron Stone and Firefighter Thaddeus Carter. Jackson and Mallory first appeared in the series in book 2, Twin Games, where Jackson is mistaken for his twin brother Jason and ends up in a brief menage with Jason and his girlfriend Angelina. It was fun bringing these characters back into the series for their own story and, when Jackson and Mallory put their own spin of a few sex games, the heat really broke the thermometer!

I’m currently writing book 9 of The Heroes of Silver Springs, tentatively titled Going Under. This is a M/M/M story featuring FBI agent Cameron Stone, Firefighter Thaddeus Carter, and DEA agent Adrien Bingham. These three hunks have been emotionally tortured in the subplots of previous books in the series and the way their story is unfolding in Going Under is even surprising me! I’m having a blast writing this story and I can’t wait for fans to read it. So watch for it at Siren-Bookstrand this winter!

Wicked Wednesday with Clair de Lune

1. If your characters could pick a food to play with in the bedroom, what would they use?

Melted Cadbury’s chocolate.

2. How old were you the first time you read a romance novel? Erotica?

At age seventeen I read “Room at the Top” and “Lady Chatterley’s Lover.”

3. What is your favorite romance genre to read? Why? (Paranormal, sci-fi, contemporary, MM, menage, etc.)

I love BDSM, it’s edgy. I like the Love Slave for Two series. I like Kinbaku, not that there is much of that in novels yet. I am doing my best to remedy that. I  like a lot of genres. Club Esoteria is a favourite, as are The Desire series and Bliss to name but a few. In general there are so many good writers in romance these days that it’s hard to name just one genre. You can never get enough of a good thing!

4. What’s hotter for the hero: long-hair, short, or bald? Why?

Long hair. It’s good for heroine to run her fingers through it. Different moods mean flowing free or tied back. He can use his hair creatively, to pleasure his lady.

5. When is your favorite time of day to write? Where is your favorite place to write? (Morning, evening, bed, playground, etc.)

The answer to this is I don’t really have one yet. I always have a note book or my iPad so I can make notes. I went to Glasgow the other day and sat for a whole hour in the car and wrote. It was a sunny day, the windows were open, I had a flask of coffee, perfect. I am just as happy writing in bed or in the kitchen. I took my granddaughter to the Roman Army museum, she sat and coloured in the sheets provided. I got an idea for a story and sat scribbling furiously. My husband is resigned to sitting in the car, waiting until I get my notes finished before we do the shopping.

6. Bonus question! Do your characters use birth control (i.e. condoms) and if so, how do you make the mechanics of it sexy?
Yes, many of them do. Master Angus my favourite Dom did not, so he made himself and the heroine wait until they were tested. Then it was a free for all. If they are not yet sure they are going to be together then it’s condoms every time.

I make sure that the hero has the  heroine is so ready for it, begging for it, that she does not care so long as he gets it on and fast!

7. Tell us about your latest release or what you’re working on now.
My next book is not the second in the Prometheus in Chains series. That came out on October 17th. October 3rd saw the release of the first in a new series of historical mysteries, The Rotherham Hall Mysteries take place in Regency England. The Locket’s heroes are identical triplets, a ménage for lucky Lady Alicia. I have almost completed number seven in the Prometheus series. It has taken a while to get the story of Master Torquil and his Gemma sorted out but it is done and will be off to Siren this week.

Wicked Wednesday with May Water

1. If your characters could pick a food to play with in the bedroom, what would they use?

Food play is quite popular with my heroines. Frosting, zucchini, jumbo peppermint sticks and licorice are amongst the yummies involved so far.

2. How old were you the first time you read a romance novel? Erotica?

I am STILL trying to locate a book that I stole (and then lost) from one of my older sisters when I was about twelve. The picture on the torn cover was of a young lady hitchhiking in short shorts. The title had the word Piccadilly or Piccalilli in it. I would re-read the hot scenes over and over.

3. What is your favorite romance genre to read? Why? (Paranormal, sci-fi, contemporary, MM, menage, etc.)

Tie between FF and ménage (where females outnumber the men). Why? Because women letting loose sexually is damn hot! I also tend to enjoy American historical. The sex seems kinkier to me since everyone was so hush-hush about it.

4. What’s hotter for the hero: long-hair, short, or bald? Why?

To me it doesn’t matter. I don’t really notice men’s hair. I’m more of a muscular thigh and beefy bicep kinda girl.

5. When is your favorite time of day to write? Where is your favorite place to write? (Morning, evening, bed, playground, etc.)

During my first year as a writer I wrote at all hours. Life was a blur. Now that I’ve calmed down I find that I do best writing in 2-4 separate increments, depending on if I have a deadline or not, making my total daily writing time approximately 4-8 hours. I write or promote 7 days a week. My favorite places to write have the views and sounds of nature. I don’t do as well writing in a city with views of concrete and constant noise.

6. Bonus question! Do your characters use birth control (i.e. condoms) and if so, how do you make the mechanics of it sexy?

I didn’t know so I had to re-read those excerpts. It looks like I just kind of slipped it in (pun intended).

7. Tell us about your latest release or what you’re working on now.

I have a bunch of erotic short stories stashed away. I am lengthening them one by one. I was recently working on two tales simultaneously, a gay werewolf and a western. 1. If your characters could pick a food to play with in the bedroom, what would they use?

Chocolate. Totally delicious and sexy as hell, especially in liquid form.

2. How old were you the first time you read a romance novel? Erotica?

Romance maybe 11 or so. I was home from school ill, and a friend of my mother’s gave me a Georgette Heyer novel to read.

Erotic romance maybe 14. I’d read everything in the children’s section of the local library, and my father loaned me his library card, so I could look for books in the adult section. I read “Forever Amber” by Kathleen Winsor, (which was banned in 14 states!) and was hooked.

3. What is your favorite romance genre to read? Why? (Paranormal, sci-fi, contemporary, MM, menage, etc.)

That answer changes from day to day. I love pretty much everything from sweet to seriously kinky, and everything in between, covering all genres. Overall I likely come back to historical romance the most frequently.

4. What’s hotter for the hero: long-hair, short, or bald? Why?

Long enough for the heroine to run her hands through.

5. When is your favorite time of day to write? Where is your favorite place to write? (Morning, evening, bed, playground, etc.)

Late at night after work is done, alone at my desk with my faithful laptop.

6. Bonus question! Do your characters use birth control (i.e. condoms) and if so, how do you make the mechanics of it sexy?

They’re all individual so some do, some don’t. Some publishing houses insist on it, so the characters have to get with the program in that case. But with colored, textured and flavored condoms, using them can be fun.

7. Tell us about your latest release or what you’re working on now.

Small Woman, Big Trouble” released on 10th September.

Blurb:

Deb Steele hikes through a Water Authority reservation. But houses are being built on one section of it, and she can’t get home. She phones Kai Cole, and he and Harry Anders come to get her. While she’s waiting for them, her cell phone battery dies and a young man turns up on an electric scooter. When he realizes she’s quite alone, he plans to sexually assault her. She escapes from him just as Kai and Harry arrive.

Kai worries about how he can protect Deborah if this man is following her, and Harry suggests they learn karate. Kai decides the only way their beginning threesome relationship can progress further is if they all move in together.

But, as Deb is leaving work late that evening, the attacker jumps her once again. Why is he after her? How can the men protect her? And will they ever have enough time to build their friendship into a genuine relationship?

Wicked Wednesday with Susan Laine

1. If your characters could pick a food to play with in the bedroom, what would they use?

Strawberries and whipped cream are undoubtedly everyone’s choice, as is chocolate, so my guys will go with avocados (so-called testicle tree) and watermelons (pre-prepped for easy nibbling). Sweet…

2. How old were you the first time you read a romance novel? Erotica?

Curiously, I never read any as a teenager or even in my twenties. Perhaps because MF wasn’t appealing to me. In my early thirties Amazon recommended me a MM erotic romance which I got out of curiosity. That one story opened up a whole literary world for me to enjoy as a reader and a writer. After reading them for about four, five months, I decided to give it a go myself—and the rest is history.

3. What is your favorite romance genre to read? Why? (Paranormal, sci-fi, contemporary, MM, menage, etc.)

I prefer contemporary MM—to read and to write. I write paranormal and ménage too, but I rarely read them. The contemporary genre opens up so many avenues for possible plots and unlikely heroes that I just can’t resist the lure. I need to find out what other authors are telling about modern gay men. Still, I do like to read a lot of other genres too, for example historical and murder mysteries.

4. What’s hotter for the hero: long-hair, short, or bald? Why?

Depends on the guy, I guess. Personally, I tend to go for short hair. Don’t know why really, considering I have written guys with both long and short hair. Never written anyone bald. I suppose now I ought to 🙂

5. When is your favorite time of day to write? Where is your favorite place to write? (Morning, evening, bed, playground, etc.)

I simply cannot write right after I wake up. My brain has not kicked in gear yet. I prefer evenings and nights. It’s quieter and darker, and I can think clearer. Also, there’s the time zone factor: I write for American publishing houses, and their working hours start when it gets dark here in Finland, so there’s a practical component involved. I also prefer a desk and an office chair. I have tried writing in bed and in a lounge chair, but the softness bothered me and made me sleepy.

6. Bonus question! Do your characters use birth control (i.e. condoms) and if so, how do you make the mechanics of it sexy?

Sometimes my heroes do wear condoms, other times they don’t. But they always talk about it before-hand, and usually if they don’t use them, that means they are already a couple, so they are exclusive and have gotten tested. With just guys in the picture, there isn’t really a question of pregnancy, but the threat of STD’s is a concern. I write for several publishing houses. My latest Siren Publishing release was Mending Fences, a cowboy MM erotic romance in a contemporary setting. This is a redemption story about a rodeo cowboy who gets accidentally outed as gay in front of his fiancée. In his rowdy and self-destructive way of life he does not expect the town sheriff to come to his rescue. My latest Dreamspinner Press release was Love in Plain Sight, a contemporary MM mystery romance. In this story two police officers, one of them a deaf volunteer, have been in a relationship for a year. As their anniversary draws near, a case involving a shady art dealer becomes dangerous, and a confrontation is inevitable.
